Secrets of Love

It is getting harder to speak about spiritual life. Harder, partly because people aren't interested but harder also because there's so much confusion about what it is. I want to start tonight in the place within us, far deeper than our worries, far deeper than any structure of criticism or achievement or despair even.  Something that has driven us from when we were very young. We didn't quite fit in. We didn't buy the dream. Something that wouldn't let us go, that there is far more to being incarnate than meets the eye, something far wilder, more primal.

Most spiritual traditions have many, many stories of the journey that individual people make, to find their teacher, to find the place of prayer that makes most sense to them. And that is before the alchemy begins. Hints are written down but the path itself cannot be. Tales of travelers before us. But a living tradition of love, it takes the shape that is needed in the time and the place that we appear. It is not something objective that is passed down; it is alive!

This wild intelligence of the feminine. Dear god, you want it back. So scary. So unbelievably free. And so deeply repressed in humanity. Deeply.
