JERRY STELMOK
Jerry Stelmok, Hidden Eye of Winter, watercolor on paper, 10x7 inches (Framed and ready for hanging)
JERRY STELMOK is a Maine native who has enjoyed the woods and waters of his native state most of his life as an outdoorsman and as an artist. It was not until canoe trips in Labrador in the 1980’s and 90’s that he was able to fully appreciate the unique sensual and spiritual experiences true wilderness can impart on a traveler. His painting and storytelling allow the ancient magic of the north a place of communication.
Professionally, Stelmok builds traditional wood and canvas canoes, many models designed for extensive wilderness trips. He also teaches the craft, has written several books on the subject and when he is not building, he enjoys paddling, hunting, fishing, snowshoeing and painting. He lives in Atkinson, Maine.
